Illinois’ Workers’ Compensation Program
The State of Illinois maintains a good workers’ compensation program that issues decent benefits for injured workers. Death benefits: If you lost a loved one in a workplace accident, you are entitled to death benefits, which include burial expenses and ongoing paychecks to replace the workers’ salary. The benefit is paid for 25 years of weekly benefits or $500,000, whichever is more. If a surviving spouse remarries and there are no children, the spouse receives a final lump sum payment equal to two years of weekly compensation.
