Chicago, IL (August 26, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred early Monday on I-57 on Chicago’s Far South Side, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.
The victim was outside a vehicle parked on the right shoulder near 111th Street when they were struck by a passing vehicle that failed to stop. The victim was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident, and all northbound lanes on I-57 were temporarily closed, with traffic being diverted to 119th Street.
